How To Reopen Your Closed Microsoft Account

How To Reopen Your Closed Microsoft Account

Did you close your Microsoft account recently? Would you like to reopen your closed Outlook, Live, or Hotmail account? In this guide, we will see how to reopen your closed Microsoft account.

Closing a Microsoft account is easier than creating one. In our how to close and delete a Microsoft account guide, we have talked about closing and deleting your Microsoft account in detail.

Many users, after closing accounts, change their mind and want to reopen closed Microsoft accounts. Luckily, you can reopen your Microsoft account if it's been less than 60 days since you applied for the closure of your Microsoft account.

When you close a Microsoft account by requesting to close the account, Microsoft doesn't permanently delete your account for 60 days. In the 60-day time frame, if you ever decide to reopen your account, you can do so with ease.

The good thing is that all your contacts, emails and others will be there as you left them.

Reopen your Microsoft account

Complete the given below directions to reopen your Microsoft account.

Step 1: Visit this page of Microsoft Outlook. Sign-in using your closed account email address and password.

Step 2: Once you sign-in, you will get the following page with the date when your account will be permanently closed.

Since you would like to continue using your account and don't want to close it, click Continue - I want to reopen this account button.

Step 3: Next, you will see “Help us protect your account” page. Before you can reopen your Microsoft account, you need to verify that the account belongs to you by choosing a verification method (email or contact number), and then typing in the code which you receive to your email address or contact number.

Choose either a secondary email address which you previously linked to your Microsoft account or select your contact number.

In the box, type in the full email address (secondary email) or contact number, and then click Send code button to receive the code to your email or mobile.

Step 4: Finally, enter the security code in the box. Click Next button. That's it! In a moment, you will see a page with “Your account is now reopened. This account is no longer marked for closure, and everything should be as you left it. Welcome back!” message.

Sign in your Microsoft account again to start using it. That's it!
